Opening day. Christmas in April. Whatever you call it…there’s only two days left until Greenfield Village opens for the 2012 season!
We’re so excited to see you, our beloved members and friends, once again strolling through the historic districts…
…whooshing by in a Model T…
…and waving from the passenger cars as our historic locomotives chug past.
Our wrinkly merino sheep are also a big part of our spring activities. Be sure to stop by Firestone Farm to see the expectant mothers (who have already gotten a “haircut” to prepare for the warmer months ahead) and see our costumed presenters hand-shearing the rest of the sheep that have been getting nice and fluffy all winter.
There are also a couple of new experiences this year, including a brand-new store – Main Street Emporium, located directly next door to the Wright Cycle Shop and selling items that might have been found in similar shops around 1910 – and the return of the much-loved Owl Night Stand! Make sure to stop by this unique artifact for a quick coffee or snack…especially if you’re one of the first people through the Village gates!
From Day Out With Thomas and Civil War Remembrance to historic baseball and Motor Muster, there are many exciting activities and events to look forward to in the coming months (and throughout the year!) in Greenfield Village…we can’t wait to share in the fun with you! See you soon!
