What’s your favorite favor?

Hobo-Bread-as-Wedding-Favor

If you’ve been to a wedding or two, you most likely received a small favor or gift at your place setting.

Long ago, wedding favors were considered to be a thank you to guests from the newly married couple. Although etiquette has changed—and a proper thank you note is most often in order—favors are still popular and can be uniquely personal additions to wedding celebrations.

Since favors are optional, I inform couples that if they don’t have a favor item they really love or one that is special to them, they might consider allocating that part of their budget toward something else meaningful. They might instead choose other things their guests may enjoy such as upgraded hors d’oeuvre or bar selections. They might want to add time to their celebration or enhance their decor, music or other elements of their reception.

Still, oftentimes a bride and groom select a favor that is just the right touch for them.

For a recent example, a couple who lives out of state gave Greenfield Village Hobo Bread to each of their guests. The packaged bread made a charming addition to their table decor, reflected the bride’s close ties to The Henry Ford and was a memorable take-home treat.

Another clever favor option—just right for a couple looking for an alternative to the tradition of clinking glasses—is to give attendees a Wienermobile whistle.

It’s a fun way for guests to take with them a souvenir of the wedding and The Henry Ford, all while adding a unique twist to encouraging the bride and groom to share a kiss.

And, of course, there are always sweets.

One of The Henry Ford’s newest food products is Greenfield Village Fudge.

The fudge comes in different flavors and can be used as a favor or as an addition to hospitality baskets or a sweet station such as Downtown Desserts.
