Weekend Update, June 11-12: Get outdoors with us!

Historic baseball at Greenfield Village

This Saturday, June 11, is National Get Outdoors Day!

And what better location to enjoy the outdoors than Greenfield Village? Make sure to come by the Village Pavilion on Saturday – we’ll have tons of activities and fun planned for the day, including a nature hike through our Oxbow Island area at the back of Greenfield Village; you can meet the group at the Village Pavilion just before 2 p.m.

You’ll also get a sneak peek at our U.S. Forest Ranger program and Games on the Green, both of which return for the summer  season starting next weekend (June 18)!

There will also be appearances by Smokey the Bear and Woodsy Owl in the morning, compass giveaways by the U.S. Forest Service and a lamb and ewe on display by our very own Henry Ford Academy’s 4-H Club, which is in its first year. Come by and ask them some questions about the animals and their new program!

The other big news for this weekend is the return of historic baseball games at Greenfield Village – hip, hip, huzzah!

This weekend, the Lah-De-Dahs will take on the Wyandotte Stars at 1:30 p.m., with musical interludes by the beloved Dodworth Saxhorn Band. So bring a blanket, grab a spot on the hill near Walnut Grove – and don’t forget to wave to the iron horse as it chugs by!

What are your favorite summer outdoor activities?
