We know that many of you are big fans of our apricot bars…so during the fruit’s peak season, we’ll be offering them once again! Stop by our Taste of History restaurant all throughout the month of June and get your fill of these tasty treats.
Can’t make it in June – or can’t get enough of the apricot bars? Well, you twisted our arm – here’s the recipe so you can make them at home. Enjoy!
Apricot Bars
Taste of History Restaurant – Greenfield Village
Ingredients
5 cups (1 box) yellow cake mix
2 cups oatmeal
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) butter
3 cups apricot preserves
1/8 cup water
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Melt butter; mix with cake mix, oats and cinnamon with hand blender on low speed.
Reserve three ounces of crumb mixture; press remaining amount evenly and firmly on a greased sheet tray.
Combine preserves and water; spread evenly over crumb base. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture over layer of preserves and press firmly.
Bake for 20 minutes; cool completely, then cut into bars.
